چکیده

1. Introduction With the recent advance in information technologies, such as the Internet, organisations face, at different levels, several types of challenges. At the external level, organisations have to remain competitive, when offering services to their customers and satisfying these customers' needs. At the internal level, organisations have to be able to react quickly and efficiently to the events that occur, for example the arrival of a new competitor on the market or the development of a new technology. In order to assist organisations, their business processes have to be well defined in order to meet flexibility, adaptability, and scalability requirements. To this end, WF technology seems to be a promising approach to define, enact, and monitor organisations' processes. According to the workflow management coalition, a WF is defined as "the automation of a business process, in whole or part, during which documents, information, or tasks are passed from one participant to another for action, according to a set of procedural rules". WF technology is used in several application domains, eg. manufacturing [1] and healthcare [2].

Scientific Workflows: Towards a New Synthesis for Information Integration

We argue that the notion of information integration (II) should be broadened to include the emerging paradigm of scientific workflows. To the domain scientist, II often means an “end-to-end” process, consisting of data acquisition, transformation, analysis, visualization, and other steps. Scientific II then requires a new paradigm that combines a data-oriented approach with a suitable process-o...

Semantically Correct Representation of Multi-Model Interoperations

In applying Modeling & Simulation techniques to solve complex problems, different types of models are used to address the multiple aspects of the problems. While each model might be capable of answering specific questions, interoperation between models can provide more insights and allow for those models to complement/supplement each other. We call the use of multiple interoperating models to s...

Process Modeling and Automated Execution for Bio-Manufacturing

Recently there is a great demand for extending high throughput life science research to biomanufacturing. However, there is a gap from life science research to bio-manufacturing. Most of existing Bio-workflow tools/systems only provide an isolated solution to help bioscientist to orchestrate bio-R&D operations such as bio-database query, bio-computation and analysis etc for specific small bio-p...

Multi-objective Modeling Based on Competition Airlines Cooperation by Game Theory and Sustainable Development Approach

In each time period, the demand of passengers for each route are finite and airlines compete for earning more profits. The complex competition among airlines causes problems, such as complicating flight planning and increasing empty seats for some routes. These problems increase air pollution and fuel consumption. To solve these problems, this research studies the cooperation of the airlines wi...
